Afternoon TEA: Natural Gas Vehicles Drive the American Supply Chain

Did you know?

Natural gas currently powers more than 175,000 vehicles in the United States. According to NGV America, about 50 different manufacturers in the U.S. produce 100 different models of vehicles and engines fueled by affordable, clean-burning, American natural gas.

These natural gas vehicles (NGVs) are becoming increasingly integral to core services like trash removal and public transit. But, perhaps the most important role natural gas vehicles play is powering our American supply chain.

From the long haul to delivery to your door, natural gas is fueling the vehicles that move American products across the country. In recent years, companies like Anheuser-Busch and Frito-Lay have transitioned their fleets to more and more NGVs. And, UPS announced it would purchase more than 6,000 natural gas-powered trucks beginning in 2020 and running through 2022. This increased use of natural gas to fuel our vehicle fleets will make the American supply chain even more efficient, affordable and environmentally sound—all to the benefit of American consumers.
