AFTERNOON TEA
Affordable energy reality > green delusions
Since TEA’s start, we have been guided by this principle: We believe there are four pillars to every American’s energy birthright, and it is our obligation to ensure every citizen benefits from America’s vast natural resources.
The first of those four pillars is: Affordable Energy for Our Families.
We’ve seen all too well how the policies of the last few years have crushed American families with ever-increasing inflation. And, that inflation is a direct result of higher energy prices from the short-sighted policies implemented by Biden’s green-at-any-cost administration. Just last week, Biden’s EPA established harsh new rules for power plants that experts predict will drive up prices even more.
But, the facts show that it doesn’t have to be that way. For decades the U.S. has lowered emissions and improved our environment all while providing affordable energy for American families and businesses.
- Increased access to affordable natural gas from the shale revolution has saved an average family of four $2,500 a year.
- Households that use natural gas for heating, cooking and other appliances save an average $1,068 per year compared to homes using electricity for such appliances.
- Natural gas is 3.4 times more affordable than electricity as a residential energy source for the same amount of delivered energy.
- A “zero-emission” power grid would cost the U.S. $4.5 trillion. That cost would equate to $35,000 per U.S. household, or nearly $2,000 a year over the course of a 20-year plan.
- Over 21 million U.S. households—more than 1 out of 6—were behind on their utility bills in 2023. We cannot sustain more bad energy policies that continue to bury our families and economy in inflation and debt. America flourishes when we responsibly and ambitiously manage our resources to the benefit of all.Check out more about the basics of TEA’s common sense energy movement.
