AFTERNOON TEA
Afternoon TEA: Zero Barrels of Oil from Saudi Arabia
Did you know?
For the first time in 35 years, the United States imported zero barrels of oil from Saudi Arabia in the last week of 2020! As recently as 2017, the U.S. was routinely importing over 1 million barrels a day from the Saudis.
Achieving true energy independence for the United States and eliminating reliance on the Middle East for oil has long been a goal both for our economic and national security. Because of the surge in domestic energy production from the shale revolution, the U.S. first surpassed Russia and Saudi Arabia as the top producer of oil and gas in the world. And now due in part to the American shale industry, the U.S. has finally reached another milestone toward that goal!
Reducing American reliance on foreign energy builds a more prosperous economy, and also makes us safer and more independent. We have accomplished so much toward American energy independence and the last thing we need is to halt our progress with dangerous schemes that will send us backwards like the Green New Deal.
We’d like to know: Do you support growing America’s energy independence by eliminating reliance on untrustworthy foreign sources like Saudi Arabia and Russia?
