June 16, 2026
The U.S. Department of Energy has finalized a $1.6 billion loan to DTE Gas that federal officials say will help modernize Michigan’s natural gas system and lower costs for customers. According to the department, the financing will allow DTE to replace and upgrade about 800 miles of natural gas distribution mains and service lines across the state. The project also includes rebuilding a compressor station tied to the company’s underground natural gas storage system.
