In the latest wacky but scary scheme coming from the Biden Administration, unelected bureaucrats on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission proposed a potential ban on the gas stoves that 40 percent of American households use in their kitchens.

Yes, you heard that right. Now, they want to come for your stove.  Even as they continue to use gas stoves themselves.

The proposal is based on a study funded by anti-natural gas groups that “found” a link between gas stoves and childhood asthma. This is junk science intended to add ammo to the war on American natural gas. And, that war has consequences.

Households that use natural gas for heating, cooking and other appliances save an average $879 per year compared to homes using electricity for such appliances. That may not be a lot to Washington bigwigs but that’s real money for everyday American families.

The bottom line is: the government has no right to tell us what type of energy we can or cannot use in our homes. Period. And, the government really has no right to take away the choices we make to provide a better life for ourselves and our families.

So, when the green-at-all-cost crowd smugly tells you that this issue is overblown—that it’s just a stove—don’t be ashamed to remember that it’s much more than that. It’s the freedom to make our own choices and the right to pursue our own prosperity. Our very American ideals are under attack in our own kitchens, and we must stand firm to defend them.
