Recently, a strange trial closed in a Montana state court. In this unprecedented case, a group of young people—of course represented by activist lawyers from the green-at-any-cost movement—are suing the state they live in for allegedly contributing to climate change.

Yes, you heard that right. A group of children is suing Montana over the climate.

Now, that may sound just silly enough to laugh off, but unfortunately, it’s not a laughing matter. This is another example of the green extremist movement using fear to indoctrinate young people to create a sympathetic face for their one-sided climate agenda. They are already trying to push similar lawsuits in other states.

It’s natural for young people to care passionately about their future. But, the fact is our future is already on the right course. The U.S. has been a world leader in lowering emissions for decades. Our air quality has improved nearly 80 percent in the last 50 years. If we stay our course AND take advantage of the abundant energy resources we have in the U.S., these children can enjoy a future with both a clean environment and affordable, American energy.

If so-called green activists truly want to make a difference for our environment, they would be focused on nations like China and India where emissions and pollution have been headed in the wrong direction for some time. Instead, using our courts and our kids for politicized stunts shines a light on their real motivation—political power and control of our energy future. All of us, but especially our kids, deserve better.
