EMPOWERMENT ALLIANCE RELEASES “RARE EARTH DAY” FACT SHEET

NOT CHINA – In celebration of “Rare Earth Day,” the Empowerment Alliance (TEA) today released its 2021 “China Rare Earth, Metals and Pollution Fact Sheet.” The organization’s release coincides with the Chinese Communist Party President, Xi Jinping taking a break from burning fossil fuels with reckless abandon to attend a brief Zoom call with Joe Biden to celebrate Earth Day.

We wish President Xi Jinping the best of luck in keeping a straight face while pretending to care whatsoever about the environment or the Chinese people,” stated Chris Pack, spokesman for TEA. “The truth is that the Chinese Communist Party is laughing all the way to the bank with cheap labor locked in its cancer villages while Joe Biden imposes crippling energy regulations that do nothing but export American jobs directly to China.”

From 2014 to 2017, the Chinese Communist Party supplied 80% of the rare earth metals imported by the United States. These metals are necessary for the creation of renewable energy sources such as solar panels, wind turbines, and electric vehicles.

Mining for these rare earth materials has caused “cancer villages” in China resulting from contaminated mine waste. Even the AFL-CIO asked the Biden administration to block imports of rare earth products from China due to concerns over the use of forced labor.  In recent years, the U.S. Showed the largest reduction in CO2 emissions worldwide, while China showed the largest increase.
