Common sense
AFFORDABLE, RELIABLE, AND CLEAN:Â Rep. Troy Balderson (R-OH) introduced the Affordable, Reliable, Clean Energy Security Act last Friday.
Why it matters: This legislation is critical to supporting American energy producers and lowering energy costs for American families and businesses. Energy should check all three crucial boxes: Affordable, Reliable and Clean — and this bill does precisely that.
“The Affordable, Reliable, Clean Energy Security Act positions the U.S. as the world’s energy leader. It achieves true energy dominance,” Balderson said in a news release. “It directs federal agencies to align their policies with common-sense objectives rather than slogans and empty promises. It provides a crucial tool for Congressional oversight.”
Balderson, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Chairman of the House Energy Action Team, is spot on when he says this measure restores regulatory sanity where it’s been noticeably lacking.
Here’s why: Upon enactment, the legislation would require relevant federal agencies to review any actions relating to affordable, reliable, or clean energy within 90 days and submit a report to Congress.
Consider:
- Affordable energy reduces the cost of living.
- Reliable energy promotes economic growth and innovation.
- Clean energy protects our environment and sets an example for the world to follow.
Also, to beat China in the AI race, we need ARC Energy Security. The growing strain on the power grid is only going to worsen as more and more data centers — which are critically needed — are built.
The Empowerment Alliance has long advocated for this type of federal legislation. We believe it also empowers individual states (some like Louisiana and OhioÂ
- This bill builds on Louisiana’s law: prioritizing US energy, reducing foreign reliance, and ensuring “green” policies reflect scientific reality.
- It also protects the most vulnerable Americans, including those with low to middle incomes, veterans, the elderly, and millions of small business owners. For too long, they have struggled against rising energy prices.
Although Rep. Balderson, a Republican, is at the forefront of this legislation, energy should not be polarizing or a Right-versus-Left issue. It’s a pro-America issue because energy affects all races, all political parties, and people from every walk of life.
Anyone who believes affordable, reliable, and clean energy is a birthright — and the benchmark for energy policy — should support this bill. It merits swift passage in both the House and Senate.
Bottom line: ARC Energy Security guarantees America’s energy future and shields consumers for generations. With approval from Congress and President Trump’s signature, that future becomes reality.
Nonsense
BLUNDER ON THE BAYOU: A judge has used climate change concerns to slow down an impending liquefied natural gas project in Louisiana.
Why it matters: The ruling effectively throws out a key permit for an LNG facility that won approval from President Trump’s administration, ordering a state review of how the facility’s planet-warming emissions would affect Gulf Coast communities vulnerable to sea-level rise and extreme weather.
Louisiana 38th Judicial District Court Judge Penelope Richard effectively halted construction of Commonwealth LNG by ordering state regulators to analyze the facility’s climate change and environmental justice-related impacts, in conjunction with the broader LNG buildout in southwest Louisiana.
Consider:
- Three of the nation’s eight existing LNG export terminals are located in Cameron Parish, and several more are proposed or under construction there.
- Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill immediately began work on an appeal, noting that “sadly, even state courts are not immune from climate activism.”
- Last year, a federal appeals court ordered regulators to revisit Commonwealth LNG’s air and greenhouse gas impacts.
In June, the commission approved the project, calling it “in the public interest.” Now comes a swift and sudden reversal — and it reeks of climate activism from the bench. Noted JunkScience.com founder Steve Milloy called it out on X.
It’s worth noting that natural gas is big business in Louisiana, with one project alone, Woodside Louisiana LNG, investing $17.5 million this year.
The energy industry as a whole accounts for $25.5 billion in total earnings (wages, etc.) and supports about 306,750 jobs. It represents one-fourth of the state’s economy.
Bottom line:Â The Louisiana ruling blocking a new LNG facility is not an example of responsible judicial procedure. It’s climate activism with a robe and gavel, and it’s misguided and costly.
A look ahead

Quote of the week
“There could be no better gift to all Americans as we approach our 250th birthday than the promise of affordable, reliable and secure energy, for today and for generations to come.”
