AFTERNOON TEA
What has been burdens what can be
We have seen a whirlwind of unexpected political changes in the last few weeks. But, with approximately three months until the November election, it is important to cut through the noise and rhetoric and start looking at the issues that really matter when you cast your votes.
Upheavals in the Presidential race aside, Biden’s green-at-any-cost agenda that brought us skyrocketing gas prices and crushing inflation isn’t all that different than the Harris agenda. If anything, Vice President Kamala Harris is even more extreme.
- Harris was an early sponsor of the Green New Deal while she served in the U.S. Senate—out-of-touch legislation that even Biden was too sensible to endorse.
- As the attorney general for California, Harris sued American energy producers over climate issues and has already accused former President Trump of being beholden to “Big Oil.” These kinds of attacks on traditional American energy sources only discourage production and drive up costs for American families and businesses.
- Harris has said she would ban hydraulic fracturing—a practice that has increased access to enormous quantities of American natural gas. It has allowed us to surpass untrustworthy countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia as the world’s top producer of natural gas and oil, while also lowering emissions and costs for Americans.
Other important races are also on the ballot this year. Both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have crucial races across the country that could decide the balance of power in Washington. A Congress favorable to affordable, reliable and clean American energy security could help return us to a common-sense energy agenda and block bad policies that fuel inflation.
And, in the states, races for governor and state legislatures will set the tone for energy policies even closer to home.
After 4 years of Biden’s costly energy agenda, over 60 million voters are looking to support candidates who champion policies that will provide affordable, reliable, clean energy security.
