AFTERNOON TEA

What’s green on the outside and red on the inside?

Last summer, four major environmental groups gave Biden an early endorsement in an attempt to shore up “green” votes for the embattled president. But, who are these groups really that showcase their celebrity board members and hoard hundreds of millions in their coffers to influence American elections?

To answer that question, TEA will be starting a new series exposing these “green” groups and their true agendas.

The NRDC Action Fund—one of Biden’s early endorsers—is the political arm of the Natural Resources Defense Council. NRDC has been in existence since the 1970s. They have offices across the globe, claiming to have 700 staff and over 2 million members. They boast celebrity board members like Leonardo Dicaprio and Robert Redford. Their main mission is using the courts to advance their extremist goals.

Here’s a few other facts about NRDC:

  • They are closely tied to China, operating an office in Beijing with over 40 employees that have a revolving door with the Chinese Communist Party. They even brag that they have “worked hard” to “curb pollution and accelerate China’s transition to a clean, low-carbon economy.” Interesting flex since China is the globe’s biggest polluter, with emissions exceeding the rest of the world’s advanced economies combined and “cancer villages” created by dirty mining practices for its “clean” energy industry.
  • NRDC used a “sue and settle” strategy more than 70 times during President Obama’s administration, in which the group and the EPA frequently met behind closed doors to “agree” to whatever terms the green group wanted. Those closed-door agreements were then codified in law by a judge approving the settlement. Taxpayers even footed the bill for over $250,000 of the group’s legal fees for this scam.
  • On the other hand, the group attacked President Trump’s administration from day one for common-sense actions like approving the Keystone XL pipeline, that would have created jobs and lowered energy prices for American families. Biden unsurprisingly killed Keystone XL on his first day in office.

As we are flooded with political advertising over the next few months, it can sometimes be hard to know who is behind the small print at the bottom of all those ads. The NRDC is betting early on another four years of green-at-all-costs policies from the Biden Administration, but TEA’s Energy Affordability Voters know we can’t let them win that gamble. That’s why TEA is here to shed light on the anti-American energy extremists behind the ads and endorsements.
