AFTERNOON TEA
Your final Biden Bill is now due
We’ve been pointing out the damage to America’s energy security and future from the President Biden’s green-at-any-cost policies for the last four years. We even gave it a name—The Biden Bill. Unfortunately, this administration has ramped up its damaging energy agenda on the way out the door, and they plan to stiff everyday Americans with the tab.
- In a desperate attempt to secure his “climate legacy,” Biden has blocked all future oil and gas drilling in federal waters. This would remove nearly 625 million acres from energy exploration.
- Last week, Biden’s Transportation Department handed out $5 billion for transit projects, including electrical vehicle charging stations, under his 2021 infrastructure law. In early December, the White House announced that it had doled out $100 billion in “green” energy subsidies under the Inflation Reduction Act and said they intend to spend 80 percent of the IRA funding before the end of the President’s term. It’s doubtful that the project’s getting all these taxpayer dollars are being properly vetted with such fast and furious spending.
- In November, Biden’s EPA placed a methane tax on oil and gas producers that will inevitably increase costs for everyday American consumers. This rule joined a flurry of other costly bureaucratic policies in the last year: new EPA standards for coal and natural gas power plants, new vehicle emission regulations, a halt on new permits for liquefied natural gas exports and restrictions on household appliances.
At TEA we believe in a straightforward, common-sense policy agenda that offers the American people affordable, reliable and clean energy security. These short-sighted policies will do the opposite. They will make energy more expensive for American households and businesses. They will weaken the reliability of our energy reserves and infrastructure. They deliver “green” handouts for the climate doomsday crowd, while doing little to truly help our environment. And, they will make the U.S. and our allies less safe on the world stage.
It is unfortunate that the Biden administration is willing to do this much damage to the American people and our energy future. It is a misguided path to a regretful legacy. Thankfully, many of these policies can be rolled back once President Trump and a new Congress takes office — perhaps some can even be halted before then. The next Administration will unfortunately need to clean up a mess before the real, positive work can begin.
