The International Energy Agency recently released a report calling for “net-zero emissions” by 2050, as well as eliminating gas-powered cars by 2035 and an end to new oil and gas development almost immediately.

But, the report also points to some built-in weaknesses. The study says that after 2050, nearly half the reductions in emissions will need to come from “technologies that are currently at the demonstration or prototype phase.” And, according to the IEA executive director, to meet the report’s goals industrialized nations will need to subsidize poorer countries.

This report was clearly emboldened by the Biden Administration’s recent activities hobbling our domestic energy development and crushing the American energy independence we have worked so hard to build.

America has become the world’s top producer of natural gas and oil. And, in the last week of 2020, the United States imported zero barrels of oil from Saudi Arabia for the first time in 35 years. After decades of dependence on foreign energy from unstable and corrupt governments, this accomplishment has made American families healthier and safer.
