AFTERNOON TEA
Don’t let Biden make a fool out of America 🇺🇸
Back in 2013, then-President Barack Obama received a “Lie of the Year” award for his frequent Obamacare claim, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.” Fast forward to the political landscape of 2024, and that controversy seems almost quaint with the regular flip-flops and disinformation American voters are confronted with from the White House.
Take the often joked about gas stove ban. Early last year Consumer Product Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. literally said of gas stoves, “This is a hidden hazard. Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.” When a firestorm of pushback ensued, administration officials and the media poked fun at the public’s response—painting it as an absurd overreaction. Except that in January this year, the administration passed rules—albeit much less invasive that what was originally proposed—that start to chip away at consumers access to, you guessed it, gas stoves.
And, while the gas stove debacle was one of the more personal bait-and-switches Biden has pulled on the American people, it’s not the only one. Back when Biden was campaigning in 2020, he claimed, “The Green New Deal is not my plan…I don’t support the Green New Deal.” But, since taking office he has supported huge chunks of the extreme Green New Deal agenda.
His hallmark piece of legislation, the Inflation Reduction Act, included nearly $400 billion in federal funding to prop us so-called “clean” energy just like Green New Dealers wanted. As recently as his State of the Union this month, he was pushing the old Green New Deal idea of a American Climate Corps to train young people in “green” jobs—he only wants $8 billion in taxpayer money for that.
As the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you. But, 2024 needs to be the year that the American people say, you won’t fool us twice. Four years of Biden driving up costs and hobbling American energy have already made chumps out of the American people. We can’t afford another four years.
