AFTERNOON TEA

Behind the mask

At the 40th anniversary of World War II’s Normandy invasion, President Ronald Reagan concluded his remarks by saying: “We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.”

The celebration of our U.S. veterans this past weekend is the perfect time to remember and prepare. Many American veterans that have fought in wars driven by greed for energy resources. We have worked hard to end foreign energy dependence so that will never be needed again.

Unfortunately, the Biden Administration seems to be dead set on preparing us to be anything but free.

This week, Biden will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a summit to discuss global issues like the wars in Israel and Ukraine, as well as “fair” trade and economic relations. It is troubling to consider what the President thinks “fair” trade is.

By quashing American oil and natural gas development in favor of the so-called “green” energy technologies that China monopolizes, he has been placing us at China’s mercy since day one of his presidency. The Biden administration’s easing of Iranian oil sales to China has also done nothing except allow Iran to fund terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.

Our capacity to produce enough energy for domestic use, as well as exporting to the world, means a safer, more secure planet for everyone. American energy independence ensures the safety and security our veterans have fought for, and American energy dominance means that safety and security can be shared with our allies around the world.
